Hangin' In McCall

Two weeks ago Van and I got to go to Idaho for a few days. My mom's family reunion was that week and Brian was so busy studying for his last finals week as a graduate student (SO proud of my hubby for earning his master's degree while working full time and supporting our family but that's a whole post of it's own) so he encouraged us to go without him.

The first couple of days were spent just playing with family. Van certainly got his fair share of attention!

Just reading the morning paper with Grandpa.

Helping Uncle Jon get some wood ready for camping.

Playing with Uncle Kyle and his dog Ripper. Shortly after this picture was taken they went outside to really play with him. Van really likes dogs and did really well with him. He didn't even get upset when Ripper barked with excitement a couple of inches from his face. That's my boy!

The last couple of days were spent camping for the Rumsey Reunion. Sadly I didn't get any pictures with my aunts, uncles, and cousins who were there.

Grandma and Grandpa were cool enough to take their hammock from their backyard and put it up in camp. Van loved it! So did Uncle Jon!

Van got part of a chocolate chip cookie for desert one night. This is his "gimme another one!" face.

Of course we spent a day of the reunion on the lake. Van LOVES the water. After swimming in the lake for a bit I gave him some sand toys and let him play. He would have stayed out there all day if I'd let him. I finally had to drag him away crying as his lips were turning blue so I could get him dried off and warmed up.

There was quite a lot of food sampling done by Van while we were there. I think he had three breakfasts one morning! Thanks Uncle Tyler for the desert.

On the drive to Idaho my mom flew out and I picked her up in Portland so she could help me with the drive. On the way home it was just me and the little guy. He did surprisingly well and it was pretty smooth sailing all the way home. I snapped this picture along they way. He had just woken up from a nap (notice the bed head) and was reading a book to pass the time.

We had so much fun and it was so good to see every one. Of course we both missed Brian like crazy and were so happy so see him when we got home. Van had the biggest smile when we walked into the house and he spotted his daddy!

Impressed you attempted/succeeded at that long drive. Vans a champ tho. Looks like you had fun at the rodeo too!
