We had some really fun spring break family outings planned this year but unfortunately illness and weather basically thwarted them all. The weeks started with me getting food poisoning. It was my first time and I really hope it was my last because it was HORRIBLE! That wiped me out for about 2 days. When I was finally recovered enough to get out of the house the weather was very cold and rainy. By the time Friday rolled around and we hadn't done anything but go shopping, read, build forts, and watch movies we decided rain or shine we were headed to the zoo. It was a little rainy but not too cold. It actually might have been a blessing that the weather wasn't perfect. When the sun comes out in Oregon people come out in droves and the zoo is packed. The day we went there were hardly any people there so we were able to let the little guy run around the whole time and not worry about losing him or him being a nuisance to others. He LOVED it!
The first animals we saw were the bears and Van was so excited! He figured out very quickly that there were more animals around the corner so he would check out whatever was on display for about 4 seconds and then he was off to the next one!
He loved anywhere with stairs. He thinks he's too big now to hold our hands going up and down the stairs and insists on doing it all by himself.

"oh, cool lions"
I don't really know why we brought the stroller. He really didn't ride in it except for snack time. He did have fun pushing it though I guess.
Van is very interested (read obsessed) in lights. He always notices when a light is burned out and is always very concerned about it. He noticed these lights on the pathway right away and had to point out every one.
"Light"
It was so fun taking him to the zoo this time. He knows the animals and was excited to see them. He was basically the navigator and we just followed him around. He stepped in every single puddle in the entire zoo. Seriously, he went out of his way to stomp in them. It was so funny!!! How do little boys just know how to do that? Luckily I was prepared and I had brought extra clothes and socks we we just let him stomp to his hearts content. He makes everything more fun!

I love the bit about the lights. He's very detail-oriented!
I can't wait to take our son to the zoo. Van just looks so happy there.
Looks like a lot of fun! Wow, he's grown so much!
