The 4th

Brian had the day off on the 4th so we decided to make it a family fun day! We loaded up our biking gear and headed out to a nearby state park that has nice paved trails. When we picked this park we didn't realize that there was a Civil War reenactment being held there at the time! It ended up being a fun surprise. We had a great ride and then we got to enjoy the festivities a bit. Van's favorite part was the horses!

After our ride and checking out the horses we had a nice picnic lunch. Van just loved basking in the sun. He kept running all the way to the end of the field and back shouting "running! running! running!" It was so funny!

While we were eating we heard gun shots...the battle was starting! We only caught the last 15 min or so but it was surprisingly fun. We will probably go again next year and try to catch the whole thing.

After the battle we headed home for nap time. We spent the afternoon and evening playing in Van's pool and making the most delicious burgers for dinner. We were a little to relaxed to think about pictures though. Love, love, love spending the WHOLE day with my boys!
