Mosaic

Van has recently learned what a mosaic is.  There were a couple in a book we read recently and then he found one on the wall at a nearby park.  He told me he really wanted to make his own so one lazy spring break morning I got out our limited art supplies and we got to work.  He insisted he did not need help but that I must sit next to him and make my own so he would have company.  We sat at the table a full 90 minutes while he cut out all his own pieces and carefully glued them on.  I was seriously impressed with his concentration and attention span!

 He was so proud of himself!

Can you tell what it is?  Grandpa actually guessed it without any hints. Ok, I'll tell you, it's an elephant.  The trunk is on the left:)
