This year we decided that Van was old enough to earn his own money to buy presents for his family. He already does quite a few unofficial "chores" around the house so I knew he was very capable. I told him I would pay him $1 a job and asked him to come up with a goal amount and then to propose jobs to me. He decided he wanted to earn $20. He did such an amazing job! He came up with the following chores all on his own: dishes, laundry at $1 per load (additional $1 for folding) , make the beds, take out all 4 bathroom trashes, sweep, empty Brielle's diaper pail, clean his room, vacuum, and clean the play room. He kept track of what he was earning all by himself. When he completed a job he would run to this notebook and make a tally mark with such pride!
Such a hard worker! He did a really good job on everything too!
He could not have been more excited about earning his own money.
He was excited all day for Daddy to come home to take him shopping. Once he got to the store he had a bit of a rough start, he wanted to buy himself toys:) But soon enough he remembered how excited he was to buy presents for Brielle and I and he picked out some great gifts. He did great at keeping the secret and on Christmas morning he was so excited for us to open them. I helped him make his gift for Brian and he was equally invested and excited. I can't believe how grown up our little boy is getting. Brian and I could not be more proud of the smart, caring, hardworking boy he is growing up to be.
