**I have to preface this post by reminding you that in Oregon they have attendants that pump your gas for you.**
We have felt like a real Oregonians for some time now but this weekend we proved it. We were in Vancouver, WA watching my best friend Robin's little boy Carter while his baby brother was being born. We were on our way to the the hospital to introduce Carter to the new baby and we decided to stop for gas. We pulled in and were happy to see we were the only ones there so we would get quick service. Carter even clapped! We look around and didn't see any attendant but waited patiently because we could see a woman inside looking at us and we figured help was on the way. After a few minutes we were thinking "this is getting ridiculous!" So Brian got out of the car wielding our credit card to give her a hint that we were waiting for gas. The woman FINALLY came out of the store but she had a broom in her hand and started sweeping the sidewalk! "What is going on here?" we think and then the following conversation ensued....
attendant: Can I help you with something?
Brian: Yes, I would like to get gas.
attendant: Well, you have to pay first
-at this point Brian, still holding up his credit card kind of leans forward thinking maybe he has to pay inside or something-
attendant: Oh, you can pay at the pump
Brian: You want me to pump my own gas?
-this makes Brian nervous as this is not allowed and he doesn't want to get in trouble-
attendant: You're in Washington, we pump our own gas here.
OH! When we finally realized what was going on it totally blew our minds! We were in Washington not Oregon! Brian quickly pumped our gas and left as Carter giggled in the backseat. There's nothing like being laughed at by a toddler to make you feel cool. Good thing we love Oregon, apparently we can't ever leave or we will be helpless to keep our cars gassed up!

Oh I love Oregon! When I first came to BYU, I didn't even know how to fill my own gas. I really love the Oregon laws during the winter :) Now when we coem to Oregon, I have to remind Allen not to get out of the Car. Good times.
