Last Friday there was no school and the weather was just perfect for going to the Zoo so that's exactly what we did! Gotta love the Zoo Pass.
These awesome bears are near the entrance, we thought it was a cute photo op. As it turns out our son is translucent so it's just a picture of me and a white glow. Can you even see him!?!? And I thought I was pale....

Van's always trying to sit up to get a better look, it makes him look like such a big boy!

Let's be honest, we go to the Zoo for our own enjoyment at this point and Van just enjoys being outside. We were however surprised to find him riveted by the sea lion exhibit. They have an underwater viewing area where the animals swim by and he could not take his eyes off it!

Funny story, at the Zoo there is a swamp section that is climate controlled (hot and humid like a rain forest) and dimly lit. They have alligators and snakes and other such swamp dwelling creatures. When we opened the door and entered the swamp, Van started freaking out! He NEVER does that so we just laughed, I don't know if he was afraid of the dark or the humid air bothered him or what but it was pretty hilarious. Brian got him out of his stroller and tried to cheer him up by showing in the animals (if Van ever does get upset it usually only takes about 5 seconds and a little walk to calm him down).

Didn't work....
so we left the swamp and as soon as we were out of the door he calmed right down. In his defense it was time for a diaper change and a bottle so maybe he was just a little grumpy to begin with but there was definitely something in that swamp that upset him. It was hilarious!Van was being really cute and funny the whole day. He's really getting more and more fun every day as his little personality comes out. As we were walking around he loved just holding onto his stroller like this, with just the one hand.

We think it was because he realized who was driving the stroller and he was a little concerned "you're letting MOM drive?!?!"

The animals were out and playing and Brian got some good shots.

It was a very successful family outing!

Fun!
I hear you Van, I get upset and freak out when in humidity too.
Looks like fun! I cannot believe how big he is getting.
I am so glad that Van has joined you in being 'zoo people'.
He is so cute Lindsay, I think he looks a little like you.
