Hiking Silver Falls

Last Saturday we did the Trail of Ten Water Falls again. This was actually Van's first time on this particular hike and of course he loved it. We got a pretty early start so there weren't many people on the trail and the weather was perfect.

Walking behind the falls never gets old.

At about the half way point we stopped to have lunch and let Van stretch. Turned out our definition of Van "stretching" was different than his. He wanted to get down so he could go exploring but it was a little wet on the trail and the bridge we were on was very spiky.

He almost got the best of Brian!

These pictures don't really do it justice. He was fighting super hard and he is strong! Brian could barely keep him safe.

Thankfully a compromise was reached. Setting him on this little ledge gave him the autonomy he craved but also kept him safe.

Lunch break!

Our hike overlapped with Van's nap time and despite a valiant effort on the little guy's part to fight sleep, he dozed off a couple of miles from the car.

I don't know how kids can fall asleep while completely upright like this...
and I really don't understand how they can STAY asleep like this.

I don't know why he was so tired, it's not like he was doing any of the work!

So cute Lindsay. I think all babies take acrobatic lessons before they leave heaven so they can squirm and wriggle like that. Van probably got straight 'A's'.
