Brian Van At Three

We went to the Dr. this morning for Van's well child check up.  I love going to the Dr for his check ups.  It's very nice to get to just sit and brag about how amazing your child is and say yes to every milestone question.  It's even better to have a pediatrician be amazed at how smart, clever, and healthy your miracle boy is;)  Here's a little about our boy at 3...

height- 39.5 inches
weight- 38 lbs
(both are about 90%)

*wears size 4T clothing and size 9 or 10 shoes
*still loves to read and prefers loves long story books
*has been potty trained (day) for about a year and night trained since March
*knows the alphabet in English (has for over a year) and Spanish
*knows all the letter sounds (again, has for about a year) and can now pick them out in words
*is starting to read sight words!! (Van, Zoo, Baby, Costco, Stop...there have been more I can't think of)
*is very attached to his friends, I need to make sure we have frequent play dates or he'll get sad and tell me he misses his friends;)
*still the boss of the radio in the car and memorizes songs after one or two listens
*LOVES to be outside
*loves playing in the water, I'm considering swimming lessons this summer
*has been obsessed with vacuuming lately, he loves pretending to vacuum the entire house;)
*still a total daddy's boy in public but is secretly a momma's boy when we're home alone
*doesn't really like to draw because he's a perfectionist and it bugs him that his drawings don't look like what he thinks they should
*take a 2 1/2 hr nap every afternoon, has an 8:00PM bedtime and sleep until about 7:00AM
*frequently eats more than I do at meals, we should start saving now for the grocery bill when he's a teenager;)
*started saying his "R"s correctly last week, it's the cutest thing because he hits it really hard.  eg: I want some moRRRRR"
*will tell you he doesn't like babies but actually seems to really like them
*shortens or changes words and thinks it's the funnies thing in the world. No really, he cracks himself up by saying things like "can I have more piz?" (short for pizza)
*has a crazy good memory
*tells us he loves us many times a day and melts our hearts every time

There are so many more things I could write but I'll spare you.  Just know that he is amazing and growing and learning new things every day.  I have heard that 3 can be an extremely challenging age (I heard the same thing about 2 though as well and I really enjoyed him being 2) but so far it's just been SO fun.  He is seriously such a good boy and is probably the sweetest little boy I've ever met.  Can't wait to see what adventures "3" will bring!
