Father's Day Fishing Trip

This year for Father's Day I decided to surprise Brian with a fishing trip.  He loves to fish and just hasn't had the opportunity to do it much the past few years.  Van helped me pick a place and he actually kept it a secret!  For weeks! He was so excited to finally tell him the surprise.  On the first day we drove up to Clear Lake and rented a row boat for the day.  We had a picnic first and then headed out on the water for a ride and some fishing.

After a little while Brian dropped the kids and I off at the dock.  I took Van and Brielle out for a hike so Brian could have some solitary fishing time.  You're welcome honey!

After hiking and fishing we loaded up and drove to Tumalo State Park to spend the night.  Van was SO excited about roasting marshmallows. He fell asleep clutching the bag:)

I decided to go with a yurt this time rather than a tent since it was a quick trip and our car literally would not fit everything we would need to tent camp plus our children:)  This sweet girl was pretty excited that she got her own chair.

This little boy finally got to roast his mallows:)

Our little family! ( I love that Van has his arm around me:)
The next morning we hiked a little in the park then drove back to Clear Lake.  Brian brought his fishing pole and we hiked all the way around the lake stopping to cast in a few times. It was a gorgeous hike!  It was 5.5 miles all together and our boy hiked at least 5 of it!  He got pretty pooped at the end and had Brian carry him intermittently but he finished it on foot.  The kids promptly fell asleep on the drive home and Brian and I marveled at how lucky we are.  Brian said he enjoyed his little trip. Probably because I did all the hard work so he could just enjoy himself:)  We all love you Brian, Happy Father's Day!
