Energizer Birthday

I celebrated my 25th birthday on Wednesday and it feels like we have been celebrating ever since! On my birthday he came home from soccer practice with this beautiful bouquet of roses. There is something about having fresh flowers in the house that is so uplifting.

Last night he took me out to dinner and let me pick the movie which of course was a chick flick. Then today my birthday continued....

This is my 4th birthday that we have celebrated together and he always does a great job of keeping his plans secret. There has been some kind of a surprise every year. This year it was an actual surprise party. I haven't had a birthday party since I was 16 and I have never had a surprise party so it was fun. To get me out of the house he told me he REALLY wanted to take me bowling "for my birthday". I love to bowl so I agreed. However, this is where he took me....
Does this look like a bowling alley to you? Yeah, looks like a condemned old motel to me too. There wasn't even a sign! Firebird Lanes is quite the classy place!

The parking lot was virtually empty and set WAY back from the road. That's the road in the very far distance to the left.

The strange thing was that the inside was actually pretty nice. We had a lot of fun and I actually didn't bowl half bad. I got 4 strikes over the course of two games and Brian only got 1! Of course he got far fewer gutter balls too so he still beat me both times. The first game was 102 to 85 and the second game was 103 to 97. I guess I get most improved player award.

After bowling I came home to voices in our living room. I was SO freaked out!! We came in through the garage so I couldn't see anyone. We had a BBQ at the park (because we still don't have grass in our backyard) and had delicious cupcakes and a giant choc chip cookie (sorry we didn't take any pictures). A couple of the people that came had to travel (from Vancouver and Portland) and we don't get to see them as often as we would like to so I was very glad they made the trip.
I think my birthday if finally over until next year. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful husband who loves me so much and great friends who are willing to give up their Saturday afternoon to hang out with me. Thanks for coming! and thanks everyone who called and sent cards. I am one lucky woman!

Happy Late Birthday! Sorry we didn't make it yesterday. I got really dizzy Friday night and it carried over to Saturday. I am glad you had so much fun though! :) A quarter of a century huh! I guess I can't make an age joke since I have 2 years on you! :)

John, the girls and I tried to make it to your party but I had to be at the coast that day with the YW and by the time I got back I was SO tired! I'm sorry we missed it! Ashleigh was really stressed about missing it, too. She wants to send you some gifts. She told me you really need some straws, spoons and plates, a basket of flowers and something else totally random that I can't remember. :) She was really insistent so don't be alarmed if those show up on your doorstep, wrapped in Dora wrapping paper! ;)
