Yesterday we woke up and decided it was a good day for a hike. We picked a place not too far from our house and not too strenuous. It was about a 4 mile loop and was classified as moderate in difficulty but it was a place we had not been before. We packed up our water bottles, put on our hiking shoes and were off. About 30 minutes later we were on the trail! It was a gorgeous day and a gorgeous hike.
Isn't this tree intense?....a little spooky
So, we were hiking along, enjoying the day and came to a fork in the trail. Now this was not the first fork in the trail but this was the first fork that was not clearly marked. Hmmmm. There were some other hikers that came up right behind us that were trying to follow the same route as us and they were perplexed also. Then they just decided they thought they knew which way to go and were off. We were not so sure they knew what they were talking about (they didn't really look like seasoned hikers) so we didn't immediately follow. We had a map but it really does you no good when you are not sure where you are on the map. It was beginning to feel like a flashback to a couple of weeks ago when we were trying to find Cooks Lake in Idaho, just wandering around on the side of a mountain. At least this time we were on trails and could go back the way we came if we had to. At long last we decided on a direction, started hiking, changed our minds, and turned around. Finally we came to a point where we were nearly sure we knew where we were on the map. Not too long after that we found a sign!! We WERE on the right track. Brian was so excited we weren't going to be stuck in the woods with the cougars.
Along the way we saw several slugs including this HUGE one and had to take a picture.
Near the end of the hike we came to a pretty little lake. It's hard to tell in this picture but it's through the trees to the right.
It was a fun little hike and I think we will definitely do it again sometime.

What a gorgeous area! I love the northwest! It's so pretty. I'm moderately jealous of you guys!
Looks like a super pretty hike. I feel kinda lame because it seems like everyone hikes except for us...
I love how much time you get to spend out doors! That was a very cool tree!
I think that you should have dug the tree up and we could have used it on our posters today. :) Looks like it was a fun hike. You better get them in before the weather turns on you. I posted the poster pictures on my blog so you can steal them if you want. If it won't let you then e-mail me and I'll send them to you. :) My e-mail is jenn_mize@hotmail.com
See you tomorrow night.
Man I hate Cougars!
