Idaho

Van and I just spent an extra long weekend in Idaho visiting family. It was really hard on both of us to be away from Brian but we still managed to have fun!
Robin, Carter and Jude were nice enough to take us to the airport. We spent the morning and early afternoon with them before our flight and as always had so much fun! It was pretty cute having all three boys in their car seats in the car. It really is so much fun to watch them all play together!
The flights over and back were ok. Van was a little bit grumpy from lack of sleep both times but he was still better than any other small children on the flight. Van loved watching the planes and running around the terminal before boarding.

On the way over they told me the flight was over booked and that there was no room for my car seat. ( If there are empty seats they will usually let you bring it on even if you didn't buy a seat for your little one.) They said the whole plane was full but miraculously there was ONE empty seat and it happened to be next to me! It would have been better if he was strapped into his car seat but it was still really nice to have the extra space.

Buckled in like a big boy!
Are we there yet mom!?!?!

The day we arrived we stopped to visit my Aunt Jan and Uncle Brandon on the way up to McCall. They have a beautiful home and it was so great to see them. Van loved their pets and their fireplace. He also loved playing with Grandpa!

A couple of days before we arrived my mom had an outpatient surgery to remove a spot of skin cancer from her nose. Thankfully the surgery went well and everything looks great! She had the week off of work to recover so Van and I spent most of our time keeping her company.
One day we drove around the lake to look at the fall colors and stopped at a beach to play. Van loved it and I had to swoop him up several times just before he ran into the water! Fearless!

Uncle Kyle came over to play with Van every day we were there. Van had a BLAST being chased by him! He liked Kyle instantly but I think he REALLY liked him after he shared his breakfast. Van always seems to weasel a second breakfast (as pictured below), lunch, or dinner out of someone!

I made a cake for Kyle's birthday and we celebrated a little early. His birthday was the 13th.

We took an afternoon walk to the park one day where Van learned about the local fish....

..ran around in the grass.....

...and enjoyed the playground equipment.

Van loved playing outside at Grandma and Grandpa's house. There are lots of fun places to play and explore.

While we were there Van aquired his first real head bonk. It was on a pew at church and everyone heard him scream as I rushed him out to the foyer. It is fading fast and it didn't seem to bother him after the initial impact. What a stud!

It was great to spend some time with Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Kyle! We had so much fun that Van slept 14 hours the night we got home and took a 4 + hour nap the next day (His usual is 12 hours at night and about 3 hours for a nap). He played pretty hard!

If that cake was half as good as your "butt" cake used to be it was probably amazing! How many layers was that baby! (I mean the cake)

Sounds like you had fun. I'm glad you got to go see your family. Van is growing up like crazy! Can't wait for next month.

Looks like a fun trip. I'm glad I got to hang out with you before you left. We should do it again sometime.

I am glad you love Oregon... that makes me happy, but I can tell the McCall is pretty amazing. Glad you got to go.
