I will probably say this every single birthday my children ever have but...
How is he already 6?!?! He is growing up way too fast!
As has become our tradition, he woke up to balloons in his room and the birthday banner. He was SO excited. He started out the day with several victory laps around the kitchen island with his hand in they air singing "it's my birthday, it's my birthday!"
He got to decide what he ate for the entire day which included cereal (we rarely have cereal so it's a treat for him:) corn chowder, and donuts. This kid loves food so he was in heaven.
I tried to make the whole day fun for him so before school we went to one of his favorite parks.
At school his teacher always makes a big deal out of each child's birthday. I brought in twinkies for the class and got to watch as they sang to him and cracked a glitter egg over his head. He was beaming and it was so fun to see him with his class! For the record, we all LOVED his teacher and were so sad to say goodbye at the end of the year.
After school we did a pinata. Both kids were so funny to watch swing at it!
After the pinata and dinner we did cake and presents.
This is by far the easiest cake I have made for one of my kids birthdays. He has been very into chess lately and wanted a chess board cake with peanut butter frosting. Pretty easy:)
Van has really grown up a lot from 5 to 6. I'm sure being in Kindergarten had a lot to do with it but whatever the reason it has been amazing to watch him grow and mature. We love this kid so much!
